One’s to Watch is the most anticipated show of Fashion Scout’s schedule at LFW and is the opportunity the see the creme de la creme of global emerging design talent! It might not be the first time you’ve heard the name Minju Kim. In fact, you may have seen her capsule collection stocked in the likes of Opening Ceremony or in selected H&M stores in Europe, US, Japan and South Korea after being awarded the 2013 H&M design award! She has even collaborated with…wait for it…Disney! This season at Fashion Scout, Kim officially presented her first collection and I was so excited to be invited to attend the show, meet Minju Kim and view her collection up close! The concept behind ‘Hero’s Eyes’ is courage, inspired by her 1980’s superhero idol. Minju’s collection is one of magical powers, strength and bravery visible through punchy bright colour blocking and bold prints. Minju focuses on the powerful women by highlighting the female form in a sweetheart neckline silk dress and peplum, but throws in structured pieces that mean business. And no superhero would be complete without a headpiece! And these crowns are to die for….and don’t forget to check out the metallic red shoes complete with bunny ears, and my personal favourite; the balaclava! I’ll let the collection speak for itself. Here are some pics I snapped at the show!
TWO WORDS. ASHLEY ISHAM.
If you are familiar with his work you will know what a privilege it was for me to be able to attend his AW15 show for the second season running! Isham is always a highlight at Fashion Scout, and I got that giddy feeling just before the lights went down and the show was about to start as to what spectacular creations Ashley had in store for us!
What I love about Ashley Isham is that his collections tell a story. This season the inspiration for the collection is the creative life of a nomadic wanderer. It is a story about an aristocratic woman who is left broken-hearted and embarks on a journey of personal freedom to find herself again….
This collection showcases Ashley’s illustrious couture glamour, each piece unique and carefully crafted. Yet once again he seems to get the balance just right so that it still feels completely wearable (with exception to a couple of headpieces!)
The collection has a romanticism and avante-garde feel to it that is omnipresent in Ashley’s work, and I can’t help but feel transported to somewhere mysterious. The layering of heavy fabrics on decorative gowns in autumnal hues and ruching and plaiting of material gives the collection a roughness to it that hints at the nomadic nature of the collection.
Once again Ashley’s won us over! It can’t get better than this…can it?!
Here are a few shots I captured at the show!
A trend we are all to familiar with this season is GEOMETRY!
This Summer I’ve been more about clashing prints, but I just cant wait to put my S/S pieces to the back of my wardrobe and make room for A/W!!
After posting my ‘Ece Gozen’ blog for Fashion Strikes a few weeks back, I was inspired to roam the high street for all things geometric!!
I’ve been hunting for some bold earrings in keeping with this trend for a while but hadn’t found exactly what I was looking for until last weekend when I popped into Primark to replace some laddered tights! At a bargain price of £2.50 I just couldn’t resist…
Stay tuned…later this week ill be posting pics of my new geometric print dress…just as soon as it arrives in the post…
