This Year, I had the privilege of attending the British Fashion Awards 2013 with the Founder of Fashion Strikes, Angela Udemba!
Held at the stunning London Coliseum, and hosted by a list of A-list fashion stars, the night was every bit as fabulous as you might imagine! Fashion’s finest under one spectacular roof, celebrating the very best of British talent, it was a night I will never forget!
The dress code for the evening was Black Tie and British and despite not getting the memo (Tickets arrived late!) my take on the evening was a more subdued look at black tie, with British inspiration; something that was reflected on the red carpet at last night’s event. Inspired by sixties Britain, I went for a monochrome theme in black and white dogtooth print crop trousers by Zara, suede sling back platforms by Steve Madden and a white shirt teamed with a padded cocoon coat from Topshop and a Jaeger bowling bag (a look I sported in my last blog post but hadn’t had the chance to wear out yet!)
The award for ‘Best Dressed Audience Member’ presented by Alexa Atwell goes to….
Ajlina Matluma of fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog Miilou.com in 1920’s Oscar
Malaika Firth, of Premier Models, who got the British Black Tie dress code to perfection in an all Burberry ensemble
Runners up for the ‘Best Dressed Audience member’ go to…..
Angel Noor, President of Iranian Women’s Association, stood out in a stunning beaded gown by Iranian designer Noushah Noor teamed with a transparent tinted red perspex clutch by Lilian Afshar.
Rosie Davies of Fashion PR agency the London Fashion Agency looked chic in a lace dress with open back and feather peplum detail by Alice and Olivia Courtesy of Net-a-Porter .
With sponsors for the award ceremony including the likes of Mac and Westfield and Toni&Guy, I was looking forward to emptying the contents of my goodie bag the minute I got through the door…Here’s what was inside…
Thanks to Mac for the stunning Lipstick in Lady Danger, my new signature colour, and False lashes mascara! Thanks to Label M for forever supplying me with my favourite hair product- Shine Mist- which keeps my hair sleek and shiny, whatever the weather.
Highlights of the night were winner of Emerging Womenswear Designer- Simone Rocha, Model of the Year awarded to Edie Campbell, International Designer of the Year- Miuccia Prada for Prada and last but by no means least…Womenswear Designer of the year, awarded to the very well deserved Christopher Kane!
Until next year….
Sunday was the perfect day… Lazy coffee morning in front of Sunday Brunch, dressing up for the hell of it, and taking a spontaneous trip to my favourite hidden shopping gems in South West LDN to see what bargains I might find… What more can you ask for?!
Parsons Green is the answer to my prayers…think charity shops, but not your average mothball- smelling-old-ladies-castoffs. Instead picture treasure troves fit to burst with designer goodies donated from Fulham’s finest ladies and you got it! You think I’m joking…I kid you not.
My first stop is always Fara on New Kings Road. It’s not unusual to pick up a pair of killer Acne boots for under 100 quid or a patent Versace mac for £75! This weekend I wasn’t quite so Lucky but I thought I’d share my secret with you anyway!
Next stop is my best and most frequented find of all time-Deuxieme.
Deuxieme is a treasure trove of good as new designer clothing and accessories! No rummaging required, this place is wall to wall rails of beautifully arranged designer finds.
What sets this boutique apart from the rest is its careful selection of second hand seasonal pieces that are not only on trend but for half the original price! Deuxieme welcome sellers to drop buy with pieces they no longer wear, and offer to sell them for 50% less than the RRP- the sellers get 50% of the sale and Deuxieme make a 50% commission. It’s pretty impressive stuff and I am blown away time and time again by the quality of pieces you can pick up at bargain prices!
Here a few of this weeks finds…
