Charlie May’s AW14 collection is one I was dying to see up close and personal, so when my invite dropped through my letterbox I was over the moon!
Held at the stunning OXO2 event space at the iconic OXO tower, with panoramic views of the River Thames, the venue offered the perfect backdrop to next season’s collection.
What I love most about Charlie May’s designs is her minimal approach. Her focus on silhouette creates pieces that are visually elegant, and the depth of her designs comes in the heavily textured fabrics which work together in absolute harmony. The AW14 collection has a definite sports lux style, which is a trend that we will undoubtedly see into AW14. The luxe style is heightened by an entirely monochrome line, which draws the eye to the detail of the designs and textured fabrics. Oh…and I almost forgot to mention the collab with New York milliner Gigi Burris…her beaver felt hats are the icing on the cake!
Her inspiration for the collection are clear in her designs, ‘textures within the landscape of Dartmoor in Devon; the rugged, windwept environment is reflected in the use of pony hair and Mongolian furs.’
I’ve also discovered Charlie May’s blog Girlalamode which is pretty damn cool, you should check it out.
Now, enough of my gushing…I’ll let Charlie May’s AW14 collection talk for itself….
Chunky Cable Angora Knit in Peach by Topshop
Houndstooth cropped trousers by Zara
Platforms by Steve Madden
As the cold Winter months descend on us, I have been looking for the perfect chunky knit. I looked no further as soon as I spotted this angora cable knit from Topshop.
As well as being the cosiest knit I’ve ever found, Angora keeps me toasty warm, and the pastel peach colour gives it a bit of the punch that’s sometimes missing from your average winter knit.
I don’t need to remind you that Houndstooth is huge this season. I decided to make a statement with this trend and picked up a pair of cropped print trousers from Zara.
Teamed with my fave pair of Steve Madden Platforms, I like the 60’s edge it gives to this look.
A trend we are all to familiar with this season is GEOMETRY!
This Summer I’ve been more about clashing prints, but I just cant wait to put my S/S pieces to the back of my wardrobe and make room for A/W!!
After posting my ‘Ece Gozen’ blog for Fashion Strikes a few weeks back, I was inspired to roam the high street for all things geometric!!
I’ve been hunting for some bold earrings in keeping with this trend for a while but hadn’t found exactly what I was looking for until last weekend when I popped into Primark to replace some laddered tights! At a bargain price of £2.50 I just couldn’t resist…
Stay tuned…later this week ill be posting pics of my new geometric print dress…just as soon as it arrives in the post…
